CDM 2015: What Changed?
From 6th April 2015, CDM rules extended to all domestic building work, regardless of size or duration. This law replaces CDM 2007 and aims to improve safety and reduce site accidents.

What You Need to Do
Here’s a summary of the main CDM 2015 updates:

Every project must include a written construction phase safety plan

CDM now applies to all work including repair, conversion, maintenance, and demolition

Welfare facilities (e.g. toilets) must be available on domestic jobs, just like on commercial sites

Everyone involved must be competent with the right skills, training, and experience

If more than one contractor is involved, a Principal Designer must be appointed

The health and safety file must be passed on when the designer or contractor changes

All projects with multiple contractors must produce a health and safety file on completion
